Everyone knows how to write. At least they think so—until they sit down and stare at a blank page or screen.
You want to express yourself. Get published. Become a bestselling author. But how do you begin? How do you find ideas and organize them? How do you turn insights and inspiration into words that leap off the page?
How do you maintain the momentum once you’ve got going? How do you finish what you’ve started and see your words in print?
Treat yourself to two weeks in paradise—guided by award-winning author and teacher, Dr. Christian de Quincey, at the exotic Tree Roots Writers’ Retreat—on Thailand’s spectacular tropical Rayong coast.
Just 12 easy steps over two weeks.

As every writer knows, one of the greatest blocks to creativity and self-expression is stress. In collaboration with The Writers Academy, the Tree Roots Writers’ Retreat is designed to melt away stress by letting you relax in a tropical paradise as you effortlessly learn 12 keys to writing like a pro.
Located just a short walk to the never-ending beach at Rayong, Thailand’s unique Tree Roots Retreat specializes in mind-body rejuvenation. A perfect setting to leave behind the troubles of the world and focus on releasing your inner writer. Without all the usual distractions that clog up your life, you can relax here and liberate your creative spark.
The Tree Roots Writers’ Retreat spans 14 days in glorious surroundings. We have designed the event to make sure you will have plenty of time to chill and relax (by the pool, at the beach, playing ping-pong or pool, visiting sacred temples, or just simply hanging out).
We have scheduled four days of free time for you to integrate what you have learned and/or to explore the many local attractions. This “down time” replenishes your creative juices; by the time you are ready to leave, you will have a publishable article, chapter, or book to share with the world.
Dr. Christian de Quincey—writing coach, author, editor, teacher, international speaker, and founder of The Writers’ Academy—guides aspiring and published writers to take their work to a new level. He teaches students around the globe how to use the power of words for creative self-expression. That’s just the start. It’s one thing to write well, but writers also need to craft their words for maximum impact—to get published.
As well as writing, editing, and marketing his own books, Christian works with other authors to help shape their manuscripts for publication. Using the principles of action-writing, his clients’ successes include:
Christian started out as an editor for national and international publications—including The Irish Times, The Sunday Times, Cosmopolitan, science journal Nature, and later served as managing editor for magazines IONS Review and Shift. After 12 years working as a journalist, he switched to marketing communications for major international PR agencies. However, after earning a Ph.D. in philosophy, he returned to his first love—writing books on consciousness and the mind-body connection—and gave up a lucrative marketing career to teach philosophy and writing & publishing to graduate students.
For more than a decade, he has taught “Advanced Writing & Publishing” to masters students at John F. Kennedy University, some of whom went on to get published. He teaches philosophy and consciousness studies, as well as writing.
Upgrade your writing skills to the next level at the Tree Roots Writers’ Retreat.
Picture yourself writing in an ideal, super-relaxing setting—supported by a team of other dedicated writers and staff.
Enjoy all the amenities offered at Tree Roots (plenty of free “downtime”)—for example, learn how to surf, play pool or ping-pong, practice martial arts or yoga, sample delicious Thai cuisine, visit local temples, walk to the never-ending beach, or simply chill out by the sparkling pool—all sources of mind-body creativity to inspire your writing.
